Last Summer Buffy Pollack of the Medford Mail Tribune interviewed me and asked me for some kids project ideas. Of course I had more than a few suggestions. I think the most important thing about making projects with kids are to give them materials that look good together. The core work of an arts and crafts teacher is to search out materials in a medium that they are capable of working with. Children make wonderful works of art that can be cherished year after year.
As an early childhood educator and as an artist I find the Reggio art method as a model for an art integrated classroom. I believe that the environment is the "third educator" in a classroom and beauty must coincide with function.
